I found that if you can provide a rags-to-riches story or some other success story, people will relate to it.

Unfortunately, Armenian history has been often (and still is) speculated for political interests of third parties. This is very sad and I can't see any resolution for this moment. Maybe with the time, human mind and morality will overweight those nasty interests.

People love stories and especially stories which they can relate to. I found that if you can provide a rags-to-riches story or some other success story, people will relate to it. It builds trust.

Anna,

Please read the post. It is not my comment. It is in fact the comment by political scientist and analyst in the Diaspora, Asbed Kotchikian. That's why it's in there as a quote.

The full analysis is linked to, but here it is again:
http://www.isn.ethz.ch/news/sw/details.cfm?id=18716

However, I would like to stress that those blogging do not necessarily represent the views of the "colossal majority" as you say. Generally they represent the opinions of bloggers who were pro-Ter-Petrossian anyway.

These people are often based outside of the country, or professionals as well as English-speakers inside the country. Usually they come from an NGO or international organization background.

Anyway, regarding how reflective they are is debatable. Opinions on how much support various opposition and governmental candidates or parties have are actually subjective and unknown.

Onnik

Your comment on bias in below sentence is invalid as it looses the bigger picture - these individuals form and express the view of the colossal majority.

"With a media blackout in place [..t]he only source of independent (although biased) news remains the various blogs maintained by individuals in Armenia and a handful of international news agencies that have limited access to properly assess the situation in the country."
